I'm considering buying a Multi 1000. I have come across some nice 2004's which of course are cheaper than the 2008's. What, if any are the differences between the two years? I know the 08 has Ohlins and is a slightly larger displacement. Any other differences? The fairing looks smaller on the 08 or is that my bad eyesight? |

You will find all the details by searching around here, but in summary:
In 2005 they changed the mirrors, seat, screen and sidestand (all for the better)
In 2007 they fixed the fuel gauge (the original was VERY pessimistic), added 100cc to the engine and changed to 'closed loop' fuel injection + changed from a dry to a wet clutch.
The "S" models (i.e. 1000S or 1100S) come with Ohlins suspension and some carbon bling. The standard models have pretty good suspension (Showa up until 2007 I think, then Sachs).
I'm sure I will have missed something.... |

Thanks for the info. Does the 2008 have a slightly smaller fairing or is that just my bad eye sight?
Are there potential problems in the fuel injuction system of the '04's? Can the fuel gauge be fixed/changed on the '04's? |

I don't know about the fuel injection system, but I do know that the fairing on all multistrada models is the same. They don't differ in size.
Perhaps you should have your eyesight checked!? |

Which is why I think we need a Wiki section
Page updated, now also includes the 2008 model. |

Thanks for the info. I did see the comparison chart but still asked the question because I was concerned about the fuel injection and fuel gauge issues with the 04 models, or any other issues that had been corrected on later models. |

get the 04 and put the extra money into gas and tires. I have an 04. You use the odometer for fill ups. At about 150 miles you start looking at 175 you better be at one. Most of the 04's had the sidestand updated for free by Ducati. The closed loop fuel injection is a pain in the XXX. It is a great bike and you will love it.
