I was looking at some local dealers and I noticed a couple of them have some leftover inventory from 2006 & 2007, specifically the 1000 models. Some of them are still asking list pricing, but do I have more of a chance of getting a better deal since they have been leftover, especially the 2006? That specific model is 2006 Ducati Multistrada 1000s DS. In your opinion, what amount should I NOT go over? I've also come across a 2006 Multi 1000S for $9,999 NEW. Any thoughts?

new? That is an excellent price for a new bike....I wouldn't hesitate on that one, you can't expect a much better deal than that. |

I thought that the '06 1000 has been more sought after than the '07 1100 just because of the dry clutch...

| I recently (September) paid $9999 for a new 2006 1000DS and thought it was a decent deal. If you can get an S model for that price I'd say that's a screamer. I would prefer the 06 over the 07 because it is a more mature model year, best and last year of the 1000 series. The 07's have some kinks yet to be ironed out, especially with the closed loop FI I think. |

The 2006 has the electric headlight adjustment--a feature I use a lot since I ride 2-up about 50% of the time. It is a PITA to adjust the headlight on 2007s and 2008s--I cannot forgive Ducati for getting cheap and dropping the feature. I actually prefer a wet clutch, but the dry does have its charms. Bottom line for me though is that you should spring for an S model, regardless of year. I would not pay 10K for a new leftover 06 non-S model. That 10K will buy you a very low miles used 2006 S model with full luggage, a full exhaust and probably lots of other expensive stuff. Unfortunately these things depreciate like mad and you can take advantage of that. If you must have new, buy an S, any S. Weigh the pros and cons of the 1000 vs 1100 as they apply to you.

| I got my '06 non-S for $9500 in April '07, I'd jump if I were you. I'm a bit more inclined to say get the 1100 because of the fuel gauge, but the '06 is great anyway. If you can get an S in any year for a deal like that, do that first. |

It works great when I pull into a gas station after taking my tank down to less than a gallon remaining. |

If I do go with a used 1100S, what mileage threshold should I not go over? I was just on the Ducati website and I compared the 2008 MTS 1100 vs the MTS 1100S. Am I missing something here? What are the differences between the two, regardless of the year.
I do appreciate everyones advice here. |

| When looking at used bike mileage, I always look at how close it is to needing a major service. Assuming 6K mile service intervals, I would rather take a bike with 7K miles that had its 6K service than one that has 5K miles and will need its 6k in a couple of months. |
