Since the mts1000 doesn't have strong resale there are deals galore all over. My question is if the 2005 is worth an extra 1k over a 2004. Consider both are in like new condition, I'm familiar with the updates to the 2005 and just wondering what experienced mts'ers think. |

Sort of depends.
The 2005 has a much better seat (I think it is just fine- if you are one that doesn't like it, then no advantage). Passenger seat is better also.
Better mirrors, sidestand (replacable under warranty, but not once off).
Better coverage (for most) with the screen. Some don't like it, but most seem to. But it would be best if you rode both.
Check on the enigne number for bad valve guides. Both bikes.
For me, I'd probably get the newer bike, but if you want a custom seat and don't like the new screen (or are going to fit somthing else) then the '04 may be a better deal.
I don't know how much the resale will be in a couple of years between, probably not all that much.

Sorry for probably missing this, but has a list of motor numbers or VINs affected by the valve guide problems been published now? |

There is an engine number cutoff. Below you're suspect and above you're OK. Check the other posts on valve guides for the engine number.
I doubt Ducati will ever publish this for the general public's view. |
