with 3/8" bit

620 muffler mod- the hole
Using the aluminum angle stock as a drill giide.

I drilled 1 hole in left (clutch lever side) exhaust outlet, increasing bit size from 3/16" at first to 3/8" finally. This penetrates into the chamber that the gases first enter from header pipe. The metal is soft... drilling took 10 minutes, if even.
620 muffler mod-drilling
Long 3/16" drill bit (followed by 1/4" bit then 3/16" bit)
Aluminum angle stock to guide drill bit so it does't flex and dance around (and to keep visible part of exhaust pipe from being scratched).
