Re: Thinking of buying...
I think I've only heard one person say they ever saw 'Hot' on the temp gauge.
At the MotoGP races in Indy in '08, my BMW R60 riding friend and I got caught up in a traffic jam from hell. I was on my '08, and kept watching the temp go up and up. When it hit 300F, we decided to start lane splitting ...

Re: Thinking of buying...
Reading through this thread there are quite a few threads about the MTS being comfortable for fellas 6'4 and above... me, I'm a little more vertically challenged @ 5'8.
So my first question...will I have issues with the height of the bike?

Re: 1200 models since 2010
Get a '12.
It was the third MY for the WC multi, with no basic changes from the original 2010 model. All of the bugs and problems had been worked out by that third year. My '12 has been flawless (with the exception of a recent heated grip failure), completely different from my old '10.

Re: WTB: 2012 Multi S model
Nothing specific to watch out for with the '12 models. Seems that all the glitches from earlier MY bikes had been worked out by then. I traded my '10 in on a '12, and the new bike has been flawless over the last 10k miles.

Try to make sure all the updates have been done, especially the antifreeze recall.

Where are you? Hopefully you can try another dealer. You will likely have the bike for a long time, don't get it if you are not going to love it.
Good riding,
Darrin
+1. I wouldn't buy from a dealer who won't allow a decent test ride.

Hi
2) how much do you pay for insurance ~?
I got a quote for ~$800/year from progressive (my current insurance). Friend of mine has a BMWGS1200 from 2011 and pays only $400 (liberty mutual)
It's hard to compare someone else's rates with yours as it depends on a number of things like location ...

No reason a multi can't go as far as one cares to ride it, with normal maintenance. Maintenance costs should be no more that with your beemer.

Thx Molly & TwoTone
The bike has been garaged the entire time and the PO was a fair weather/weekend warrior. He was fairly miticulous with the bike. No leaks that I can see. Im going to offer 3K and see what happens
Good plan. He probably doesn't have many folks lined up to buy it, and may just ...

Re: Potential Noob - NJ
With only 3k miles, I doubt you will have any wear issues. The PO probably never even got to the first service beyond 600 miles. As far as maintenance, the belts and fluids should definitely be changed. Seven year old tires may be rock hard. If the bike has been sitting any length, you can probably ...

Re: 2007 1100s maintenance
That's about what I've paid for major services on all the Ducs I've owned. To me, it's just part of ownership. Talk to the dealer again. If you do some of the basic stuff, he may charge less for, say, just a valve check/adjust alone. A set fee for an 'xxxx mile major service' includes a lot of ...

Re: Second guessing my Multi dream
I got turned to the dark side about 10 years ago, and have owned nothing but Ducati's since. I'm a regular Joe too, but there is no other motorcycle brand out there that gives me the same satisfaction of ownership and joy/excitement in riding as Ducatis do. And that is what it is all about, after ...
