Re: Potential Multi owner
I have a MTS 1000. I believe these 1st gen bikes are extremely reliable as a whole, the 1100 having slightly better track record (reading this forum) than the 1000 model which has had the valve guide issue, at least remarkably more of those. Other problems are minor, or they are more like features ...

Re: Oil temperature sender
Definitively, that piece on the engine side case right side is oil pressure sender. Temperature senders there are two, the one for the instrument panel gauge is at the oil cooler bottom right side and there is another one for the ECU at the horizontal cylinder head on the valve adjustment cover.

Re: Oil temperature sender
I think it was this which I ordered last summer, but I am not 100% sure as I have lost the papers which came with it but this was the thing I ordered:

Re: upgrade from a monster for long rides worth the cost?
Go ahead! I made the change from M600 to MTS1000 and very happy since. I got exactly what you are looking after, more long ride comfort and capability. 1200 is even better on ergonomics AFAIK. Monster was too tight, allowing basically only one riding position which is bad on long rides. One thing ...

Re: Snow, ice and salt?
I'd believe there are plenty of better bikes for winters than MTS. I'd be also very surprised if Ducati has ever tested ABS and traction control of 1200 model for such conditions like winter, computers can do whatever in 0-friction. In car use it is so much different, it is no problem to allow ...

Re: valve guide issue 1100 vs 1000
I have been on the assumption that when they fix the initial, failing production series valve guides (at least on warranty) they had different part numbers to replace the original ones. Thus this fix should be more durable than the original ones were. In your case 20k kms seems to be the same. This ...

Re: Multistrada In an Urban Environment
I commute 15-25 mins twice every day. I had earlier M600 with wet clutch and std handlebar. Clutch was heavier, very tiring to press clutch all the time in slow traffic, and wrists also got tired leaning forward in city commuting with it. MTS 1000 riding position is far better, better visibility, no ...
