Re: 2010 1200ST low miles should I or not

Are you sure you want to give up that 1100 for a first year 1200?

That last year of the air cooled 1100 was perfectly sorted out.

Mike, have you tried the first generation Multi's?

The 1200 seems cramped to me by comparison.

it's worth paying the toll before dropping big money on a bike.

Re: 08 1100DS S - with issues

Well that, and trying to explain to a prospective buyer that the bike is *really* an 1100 and not a 1000.
the title will say 1100, shouldn't be a squabble there!

Try to work a deal, those silver/grey S's are the rarest of rare!

Re: 2007 multi

I had an '04, I liked the Showa's...a little harsher ride, but I liked the feel.

You can always rebuild the Showa's to your liking.

Not really an issue.

Re: Need advice from you guys and gals.

Well well never knew where Boise Idaho was before, just google mapped it

you boys really like your straight roads.......you'll need to stick to those forest roads when you're on the multi so you can keep the tires from squaring off.

I think you could do with an Italian guy in the road ...

Re: MTS1200 or ST2/3/4

I haven't actually ridden an air cooled Ducati, but if I go that route, it will be a Monster, which at least looks cool. There is no way I am paying 8k+ for something that looks like a scooter, I don't care how well it handles, sounds, or what manufacture's name is on it.

Re: 1100 or 1200?

you'll love it either way you go.

I don't think you are going to find much as far as maintenance issues go on an 1100, they were well sorted by the time Ducati updated the Multi design to the 1200. Both bikes will give you performance, the 1200 has more top end. If you like riding tight twisties ...

Re: Clarification Between Model Years!

the 2010 may be a base model vs. the 2011 being a touring S...

and yes you can easily lose $5k in depreciation over a year....you probably lose half that amount when you ride away on day one. Keep it, and ride it...

I don't think you are going to have any problems finding those items for that bike. Great machine, go for it. You live in a wonderful riding area that is perfect for the Multistrada.

So One could deal quite well with a showa front end and some premium in hte rear?

J

Absolutely.

I have owned both Showa & Ohlins equipped Multistradas. I liked the Showas. As others have said, the Ohlins are a plusher ride. The Showas transmit more force back up through the bars to you when ...

Re: Multistrada Advice, Please Advise!

I'm going on to 20,000 miles on the original chain and sprockets. They looked fine to me, but I figured that my shop would have suggested changing them out at my 18,000 service, but they said the looked great. I will definitely change them out at 24,000.

Krause Racing offers Titanium sprockets and ...

Re: After First Demo Ride; Not Sure

I came to the Multi after a few hundred thousand miles on Beemers..the no worries approach that the shaft drive gives you, was very nice. But, I don't find chain maintenance to be a concern with the Duc, at all.

After I pull my gear off the bike at the end of a day of travel, the first thing I do ...
