Re: No Code Card - Is this A Problem?
The red key is more important than the card. The card gives you a code to override the immobiliser (I think). The red key is required to make duplicate keys work with the ecu and dash.

Re: Buying a Multistrada....decisions....decisions....decisions.
The 2006 has the electric headlight adjustment--a feature I use a lot since I ride 2-up about 50% of the time. It is a PITA to adjust the headlight on 2007s and 2008s--I cannot forgive Ducati for getting cheap and dropping the feature. I actually prefer a wet clutch, but the dry does have its charms ...

Re: Gettin' a used Multi 1000s
Not a great deal unless it has some expensive options like a full exhaust system, hard saddlebags, etc. Not too long ago there was a $2000 factory discount on all MTSs, meaning you could one brand new from a lot of dealers for what you are about to pay for a used bike. It does not matter if the bike ...

Re: I'm sold on the Multistrada but before I buy- how reliable?
Remember, when you come here and read about problems, that is because problems are one of the main things people talk about here--very little is posted about the thousands of rides people take with absolutely no problems whatsoever. That's the nature of these forums. Other than chain and sprocket ...

Chris--
MTSs really turn up for sale here quite often, and are on ebay a lot. Consider an S model--the Ohlins suspension is amazing and it is inexpensive compared to adding it later--though many here are flat in love with their non-S bikes. Having the valve guide issue addressed is a plus, but if ...

I'm 5'8" too with a 30" inseam and my stock height 1000S is just fine. I cannot flat foot both feet at a stop--but who cares? I never understood why some people feel this is a necessity. In your case being as tall as you are, you are probably going to flat foot a stock height bike in any event.

Re: Going to look at an '04 1000 DS this Saturday but...
I would steer way clear of a Multistrad lowered 2 inches unless you need it that low because of a very short inseam--like under 27 or 28 inches--which you are not. One of the beauties of these bikes is the long travel suspension. Also, with 2 inches off the height, a shorter kickstand will be neede ...

Re: 1200GS or 1000S
I took a 1200 GS for an extended test ride before I bought the MTS. I really had my heart set on the GS--love the looks and it looks so purposeful and well built--plus I really like the idea of ABS notwithstanding added weight and complexity. But I just did not like the way it rode. I thought tht ...

Re: Wife and I want MTS 1000S, good idea?
I think buying a Multistrada as a beginner bike is a huge mistake. Part of learning to ride is having a good chance of dropping a bike at a stop sign, wheeling it out of the garage, just sitting still. Happens all the time. I think the MTS 1000 will serve you well in most of the jobs you want it for ...
