Re: Which one?

Fastfaz, that rings a bell. There's a guy who was a member here, very keen on his motorcycles apparently. I met him as part of a small group riding to my first EMM. He had the latest Hypermotard, all the Ducati leathers and helmet, cool sunglasses etc. We set off on what was a rather epic journey ...

Re: Which one?

I had a 620 and an 1100. Go for the 1100, it is a little more refined than the 1000, with a wet clutch and most of the niggles sorted. Another pointer to it's evolution is that on rideouts my 1100 always used less fuel than the 1000s yet had better acceleration.

Fastfaz, it's not a case of how ...

Re: 1200 models since 2010

And many voice concerns about the electronics, but there has been so few with issues we cannot even remember them.

+1

The only electrical gremlins I've had was a short in the wiring loom of my 2010 ABS, (a unique happening I think), and on my 2013 Skyhook failed heated grips and a dodgy side ...

Re: Tempted by a 2005 620, what should I look out for?

What I forgot to mention was its service record. Probably the most important items are the cam belts. Recommended to be changed no later than every 2 years. So if there is no record, and you buy the bike, get them changed asap. Also, use that as a bargaining tool.

Good luck, and looking forward to ...

Re: Tempted by a 2005 620, what should I look out for?

Benn, welcome to the forum.

I had a 620 Multi and it was a very nice bike. Lighter than the 1000 and 1100 and powerful enough to give a thrill.

Not much goes wrong with them, but one thing to be careful of is the side-stand attachment point, which is direct on the crank casing. I never had it but ...

Shame. :x Mind you, Those 1100's are pretty good too. I had one and loved it.

Good luck, I'm sure the right one will turn up.

Re: Where have all the 1100s Multis gone in the UK?

Have you thought of a 1200? Mine is for sale, (see Marketplace), though of course it's quite a bit more expensive than an 1100, but worth it if you can afford it.

Re: Trading my Hyperstrada for a Multistrada UPDATE

Go for the MY 13 if you can afford it. The engine/LED lights/Skyhook were real improvements that year, with the engine upgrades giving low rev smoothness and better fuel consumption.

But if the pennies are tight a MY 12 with Ohlins and CPU is a very good alternative.

It's easy to fall for a thoroughbred. She'll seduce you

If the bike has been stored outside, definitely check the instrument panel. Condensation inside can be dried out if it is put somewhere with gentle heat, like close to a hot-water tank in an airing cupboard. Sometimes corrosion will ...

Re: From Triumph Tiger to Multistrada

Tonic,

Andy is right, the 1100 is the later iteration of the bike and most of the niggles were addressed, along with a tad more power and torque. The 'S' version has Ohlinns suspension which is generally regarded as superior, but the standard 1100 with Marzochi/Sachs units are more than acceptable ...

Re: Decision time:1100S or 1200S Touring

You just have to test ride them.

The aircooled are full of character, but the watercooled are so much more up to date and integrated.

Either bike will thrill you.

As for electronic gizmos, the 1200 is three years old and counting, and I can't recall many/any posts detailing failures in the ...

Re: Is this a reasonable deal?

I'd say that is a nice looking bike. Check the service record is up to date, as this is important, though I see he says it has been serviced properly. I also see a Monster in the garage, so I'd say the man is an enthusiast, and they are the best kind of people to buy off.

The 1100S is a very fine ...

Re: MTS620 Instrument panel

About to bite the bullet on a low mileage '06 Multistrada 620, but something has been bugging me. Original owner had the instrument panel replaced once due to condensation, and essentially the odometer was reset in the process. Is this a normal occurrence? I have a record of the bike's actual ...

Adrum, have a look at this new thread. 1200 owners are noting how their bikes have been performing WRT reliability since they got them.

Overall very reliable I'd say, with, as Milo says, a few niggles. But as with all new production machines ...
