It looks darn good. Generally the valve guide issue showed up by 20k miles. Likely if it runs well and doesn’t use oil it is ok. But it is very easy to check the horizontal exhaust valve guide. Might be worth doing or taking to a local shop for a checkout first.

The luggage seems VERY difficult to find now- only rarely do I see it come up for sale.

Re: '05 MTS 1000S DS, 5k miles, $6,200
that is an 'S' model with the Ohlins suspension etc?
I have not followed pricing much- for a low miles bike that certainly seems pretty good.
Here is what I would do, just in case. Get the VIN and check to see if it is in the range of the bad batch of valve guides. I sort of doubt Ducati would ...

Re: Thinking of buying...
If the price is right I'd buy it in a second.
Just replace the. Cam belts, oil, brake and clutch fluid ('tyres too if you are paranoid) and fix the cosmetics.
Make sure to check the engine mount areas on the engine and make sure no cracks in the case from the fall.
Still repairable. But a lot ...

Re: Thinking of buying...
I'm 5' 10" and have no problem with height at all.
Best to go ride one and see how you like it.
I'd buy a low mileage bike certainly, but plan on replacing belts and oil etc.
Where I live I usually have the oil cooler covered to get the oil warm enough.
I've never, ever seen it get hot.

I don't think you can get a red key.
BUT you can buy ( or flash yours) an ECU with no immobilizer and not need it.

Re: thinking about buying an 05 Multistrada DS
Very different bike than your Honda to ride.
Much more power, lots better brakes and handles a lot better.
They are reliable if properly maintained. Nothing difficult or even too often-but must be done correctly.

Re: Going to Buy 2006 1000DS
It could be an honest mistake on the year - or could be a dishonest seller.
I guess if there was paperwork to back up the tank and valve guides it would be good, otherwise probably better to wait for one with docs.

Re: 08 1100DS S - with issues
One of my buddies (on here also) has a newer bike he swapped with older bodywork because he prefered the silver/grey colour.
Looks sharp too!
The biggest hit I think would be salvage title.

Re: 08 1100DS S - with issues
Seems high for price to me.
I was going to ask if States or Canada, but looks like Canadian Vancouver...
Does it have a salvage title? (Do they do that in Canada?)
I wouldn't be afraid of the silver, but certainly the tank may be ready for replacement before too long. I think there is going to be ...

I see no 'feet' on the prototype stand.
I hope you add some, otherwise it will tend to really Sink into asphalt.

See if the valve guides have been replaced.
It is pretty easy to check the exhaust guide in th horizontal.
