I spent 10 weeks in Europe with mine in 2007 and have no complaints. I have since done the tank venting mod mentioned above and now get up to 446kms - abt 275 miles(best so far). Everything is stock except the bars.
Biggest problem I have is deciding what I might replace it with.

Re: Would like to buy Multistrada 620-advice please
3.5 years and somewhere around 90000km - no problems except a lack of time to ride at the moment.
As xmonster says, tires are the main maintenance cost, but then at about 17000 - 20000kms per set probably not that bad really.
I've not ridden a monster so can't compare but leg room is definitely ...

A win at last and i missed it. :(
Heres hoping for a weeks dry weather from the 23rd.

Re: MS 620 ???
I am possibly a bit odd (not possibly, definitely :) ) due to having a tin R knee that doesn't move too well so my view of what is comfortable is no doubt influenced by that.
I agree with having the pegs back a bit - I tend to rest my heels on the peg frame (?) on the highway to get a change of ...

Re: MS 620 ???
I think the 620 is the best but I have had a dream run with mine and I think it helps that I am a non-standard shape :).
Gravel/dirt is no real problem with Z6 tires - my favourite day ride includes about 80-100 miles of gravel and it is always good riding.
I do think that taller people than me ...

Re: Considering a MTS - concern about seat height?
Don't even worry about the seat height at 5'9"
As a few members will testify, I have possibly the shortest legs on this site -- at 5'9" I would probably feel cramped!!

Re: luggage questins from newbie
I gave up trying to fit work stuff in side bags but carry far more than I need in my topbox. Givi E360 (I think!)
I have taken the side bag frames off as well now - if it won't go in the top box I don't take it

Re: 1000, 620 or ....
I haven't ridden a 1000 and probably couldn't touch the ground anyway!!! but I am really happy with my 620. I can't imagine needing any more grunt than it has ( wanting maybe but needing -no). I can go as fast as most of the people I ride with, especially when it is a bit twisty and I don't seem to ...
Re: Old guys
I am 60 (near enough) and have a 620. Is that old enough?

Re: BMW F650 GS for a brand new Multi
Sorry matt, I just read my post -- I didn't mean to come across as a 620 salesman! It is just that I like my bike so much!!!
If I bought a 1000 I would probably have been the same about it. Good luck

Re: BMW F650 GS for a brand new Multi
I don't know Matt. I had no problem keeping up with the big guys on the Rusty Nut run recently and that was a total over both islands of 6k plus. It got quite fast at times and very fast at other times and the 620 was fine - wet-dry-fast-slow didn't matter to me or the bike.

Re: BMW F650 GS for a brand new Multi
Matt - I can't comment on the 1000 but I know my 620 suits the NZ conditions just great for me, bearing in mind I am a shorty (oz-kath and I would probably fight it out who was shortest). I do know it is really hard to stop grinning when you ride. Are you North or South?
