I need a very small amount of Duc red (06 620) for a few really small chips I caused while hammering in my centerstand lift handle's elastic drift (translation to American english: roll pin). Where is the cheapest source of something that really matches and do I really need clear-coat to have the pigmented paint set properly, as the Color-rite web site says? I've heard that Duc won't ship paint overseas (safety/regulations/secret formulas/etc.). For the smallest amount Color-rite has and the 'special' clear-coat we're talking close to $30. Any help/thoughts would be appreciated.

I used the Color Rite Ducati red to fix some dings in the panniers of my ST3 from a driveway tipover, and to me it was a perfect match. I didn't clearcoat the repairs, but I did wet sand them with some very soft emory cloth given to me by someone who does bodywork. I then blended in the repairs with plastic scratch removing compound.
When I traded in my ST3 for the Multi, I had to point out the repairs on the pannier to the dealer (being an honest fellow and all). They had gone over the bike with a fine tooth comb, and had not seen it.
FWIW, I also had to repair scratches to the black plastic on the pannier from the same tipover. For this, Pactra paint, available at any hobby store, in Outlaw Black, is a perfect match. The paint is made to paint plastics, so it adheres well, and should last forever. I sanded the scratches out, and then painted it. The only way it was noticable was if you ran your hand over the area, you could still feel some irregularites in the surface.

Thanks for the advice. I haven't decided if I want to spend the money at Color-rite yet or have a local automotive paint supplier try and match.
