I am the market for a used multi and perfer the ohlins model. Can any of you veterans have any advise regarding the 1000 with the traditional dry clutch or the 11000 with the wet clutch. I general ride 75 to 1000 miles on tight roads runing between 15 on thehair pins to 120 mph on the wide sweepers.

For the type of riding you describe, the clutch type will be a non-issue. The wet clutch is a bit better in stop-and-go situations. On the open road, both will be fine.

If you do go for a 1000, I would stronly suggest going to the 14 tooth front sprocket. This improves the low-end torque and rideability immensely. You lose a little bit of top end, but the Multi is not the bike for hour-long blasts at 100 mph anyway...

I have an 04 dry clutch, and I've driven a friends 07 wet. Plus: The dry has a wicked sound and very easy maintenance. Minus: Wet is smoother and less prone to grinding.

I may lean to the 1100, not for the clutch, but other improvements. Check insurance also.

I like the dry clutch fine, but would like the better fuel gauge, better triples, better bottom end and generally better fuel mileage.

I've had both and the 1100 is the better bike. In principal I hated wet clutches but honestly I never gave it much thought after about 4 minutes. I do enjoy the quiet that comes with wet clutch + stock exhaust. If I want to make noise I've got three other bikes with full system upgrades.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I looking for either a 1000 sds or 1100 s. more interested in a dial in bike at a good price than the difference between the 1000 and 1100. I have a reply out to a 1000sds in Sacramento here is the link if anyone care to comment

Dry clutch was designed more for racing (less weight on a spinning clutch when it's dry). A dry clutch also wears out faster than a wet clutch, but it's easy to replace the plates.

Actually, I think the main benefit to racing is ease of clutch changes, since the oil doesn't have to be removed. Also, no clutch particles in the oil.

There are plenty of extremely fast wet clutch bikes.

I think the answer is both. Since race bikes often use barely adequate clutches to save weight, they burn them up frequently and need to swap them out frequently.

Sorry guys, but a wet clutch is a bit less Ducati, just like the new engine in V instead of L (new engine to see at Moto.it)
