Hi all,
I have a line on a 2007 1100 Multi. It is not the S model. 7k miles all dealer serviced for a very fair $7200. So I have it down to this or a 1200GS. In all of my research it appears at the moment there is a ton 2007 models for sale (ebag alone has like 15 for sub 7k bids). Much more then any other year. I have done a ton of reading on here and other boards trying to get a feel for this bike and potential problems.
Is there some smoking gun problem on this model year that I have not found. It seems like a really good price and I like the seating position. It also seems like a nice compromise between long distance riding and blasting up my local mountain. I love the price compared to the GS I am looking at too.
Any help please?
Thanks,
Dan...

There are no real smoking gun issues with the 07 models. I've done 13k trouble free miles on mine. They do have a tendency to run lean but a FatDuc O2 emulator is an inexpensive solution to that. Many change the bars and seat but that is a personal preference kind of thing. My biggest expense has been for tires, but I do ride kind of hard on occasion.

The expanding fuel tank issue has plagued most Multis, including the 07-'09 bikes. Not a deal breaker for most folks, but certainly something for you to be aware of.
I'd still go with a multi, no question.

Thanks for the info. What is the expanding gas tank issue? I am kind of concerned about the lack of ABS. How do the factory panniers work. Some people say they leak?
Thanks for the help,

Do a search on 'fuel tank', that should bring you up to speed. Factory panniers for the air cooled multis are fine. It's the panniers for the 1200 that are leaking.
You will have to decide for yourself about the ABS. Not available on 1000/1100 multis.
