Hello, I'm in the market for a new adventure tourer and the MultiStrada is on my short list. I'm concerned about the reliability of all the electronics in the new MTS. My 4 year old car just had the touchpad multifunction display die and I've a something of a struggle to get the company to help with the very high repair cost in spite of over 5 years of owners reporting issues with this part and a Technical Service Bulletin issued in 2005.

Therefore, while the new MultiStrada sounds and looks like a great all 'round bike, I need rock solid reliability as well since I'd like to do some international travel.

Thanks for any input on the reliability of the new MTS, especially the high tech electronics.

As mentioned in your other post, ducati.ms seems to have migrated into the 1200 forum. So far, I've only read of one failure of the electrical system over there, the consensus being the bike probably has a short somewhere that can't be nailed down. I have the 4 modes, I love them, and use 3 of them regularly when riding. They really do work as advertised, completely changing the character of the bike in each mode.

As far as long term reliability, only time will tell at this point...

I have to say the 1200 is an outstanding motorcycle. I too use three of the four modes regularly and they do indeed function as advertised. Just finished a short 1200 km two nights away with my wife and she also loves it. After pensioning off my 1200 GSA BMW after 74000 kms I couldn't be happier!
