Hi there,

My name is Dan. I currently own a 1973 Yamaha RD350 and a 2002 Kawi ZRX1200. I've recently come to the conclusion that the Multistrada is going to have to be my next bike. I was looking at the Triumph Rocket 3 and the 1200GS....but it seems the MS does everything that those bikes do AND MORE. I was thinking of finding a low mileage(<15K) 2010 MS. Are there any common problems and/or things to be aware of concerning a 2010?

Thanks so much for your time!!

Welcome to the insanity. Seriously we all are enthusiasts. There were some issues on 2010 which have been resolved on newer models, but should be updated by the dlr. If buying from dlr. make sure you ask that question. Search this board to find out the different items.

I jjjjuuuuust can't bring myself to buy from a dealer. I'll of course be looking for service documentation....but the purchase will likely be private.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm looking forward to seeing how this bike compares to my ZRX (which I love and will always keep  ) I now it will be like night and day.

If it's a private sale, a dealer can still run the VIN to see if all the factory updates have been done. There are several, some more important (hands free update) than others (pannier latches if you get a touring model). To me, the most important update would be the recent antifreeze 'recall'. Make sure whatever '10 MY bike you buy has had this done! To eyeball it, check the fluid in the reservior to be sure it is pink. If so, it's good to go.

Good tips!! Thanks!! The pink coolant is a nice easy tell. Hopefully the guy cares and doesn't just put DEXCOOL in there
