Greetings, new to your forum, and to Ducs. I'm 54, 5'8, 180 and ride a 2004 triumph Bonneville. I've taken the bike on several week longs, lots of 3 days, to work and out for a pack of cigs. 15,000 miles.
My complaint is the lack of luggage choices, she's great fun but a bit of a dowager. I love its versitility, adequate power (umm, well, ) and fine handling. I can wrench it myself, only for maintenance because I've never had a problem. I'll never buy a dedicated touring machine or a sport bike with clipons. I love standards.
So my question: Would a nicely priced 620 demo with the Duc hard bags be an exciting variation or a just duplication of what I've got?
How concerned should I be about the end of the 620 line?
Do valve adjusts truely cost $25,000 and your first born?
Could I wrench this thing? Can I avoid costly mods and just leave it alone (a personal problem I guess!) or is the stock bike pretty well satisfying?
TIA and how nice to discover this bike and this forum

IMO, the Multistrada needs nothing. However, if you're into customizing it, there's plenty of items to choose from. In terms of a comparison to your Bonnie, expect more power, some wind protection, better suspension and overall better handling.
My recommendation would be to keep the Bonnie and get the Multi with some added luggage.

Hi Dinola,
I can understand you, I had two Harley Sportsters before my 620 Multistrada. You ask if if the Multi would be an "exciting variation". I say for sure! The Duc Multi is like a standard but modernized and very exciting indeed. I love riding my bike! As far as adding things on, I added a carbon rear hugger mainly to keep the rear shock and that area cleaner. However, I do think it looks pretty cool. Other than that my bike is totaly stock and I happen to think it works pretty darn great as is. Lots of people think one MUST put on the Termi or other exhaust, which are cool, but I kind of like keeping a bit quiet and not drawing too much attention. I already got stopped for speeding once. If my bike was louder I probably would be stopped more.
I love the Triumphs too! I say keep your bike and get the Multi 620 as well and have a blast!

Thanks for the replies!
Should I have a concern that the 620 is being dropped? Will the tire type be avail down the road? (I got the sense that the bike uses an odd tire?)

I'm not concerned at all. The Multi 620 is only being dropped in the USA, still will be for sale in Europe. The tires can be found anywhere. You can even get different types(brands) in the same size.
Also, if they don't have the Multi 620 in the States anymore, who knows, maybe it'll be a rare highly prized bike someday. Mine is already highly prized by me!

The bike uses standard sized tyres. The rear is a bit narrower than the 1000, the front the same size. The rear wheel is an inch narrower, so I don't think the 1000 sized tyre would fit well. (at least that is what the Ducati site says for sizing).Dinola wrote:Thanks for the replies!

I wouldn't worrry much about them discountinuing it.
Have you ridden it and the 1000? I've never ridden the 620 myself, but many really like it.
I also haven't ridden a new Bonnie, so can't really say how similar it would be. I would think a fair amount different.
Go for some longer test rides on both bikes, see what you like. Right now there are some very good deals around.
