Wonderful advice, commentary, and insights. I am definitely taking it all under advisment. Honestly, the decision is actually a little easier to make because the bike that I would be getting is red and I really had my heart set on the dark or black. I prefer the dark, but thought that I would want the extra front Brembo. This is completely illogical though, since I have never ridden.

My biggest concern was finding one since they are going to be discontinued, but based on some comments and what I have found on the web it looks like I will be able to find one relatively easily.

So...until I repost as a new owner (or some with more questions)...safe riding to y'all.

Seems a lot of us made a HUGE mistake! I ran across this in the manual - in the special section For United States of America Version Only.
This is a very high performance motorcycle, designed and intended for use by experienced careful riders only!
(exclamation theirs)

Since I am still a newb, and tempted to occasional squidliness, do you think they'll ask for it back it if they find out? :shh: Why do you suppose that doesn't pertain to the Euro version?

Wow, there are lots of new riders out there. I hope Ducati are watching this site and realise how many people have found happiness on two wheels via a new Multistrada.

I just think its brilliant that so many riders have taken a leap of faith and landed on their feet. What a credit to the bikes (and the riders too of course). I can't think of a better bike to learn to ride on than a Multistrada (either model). Mind you, imagine how successful an 800 might be?

Stay upright, keep riding and remember every bike on the road is one less car!
90,000 kilometres in six years. Still going.

Add me to the list of middle-aged newbs who bought a 620 Multi as a first bike. All I can say is "I love it!" :D
The power, looks and quality are all I could have hoped for...
Perhaps someday I will have the skill and experience to deserve a 1000 (or 1100). So, if you like to ride, you will not go wrong with the 620 (Dark or not)...

I started riding when I was 5, 51 now, I would have my brother help me hold the bike up to get started, when it ran out of gas we stoped. I have never looked back. Life is SHORT If you really want it go for it and don't worry your self out of it. Life is about the journey squeeze every smile out of it you can get.

I'm 53 and handicapp'd after 11 Orthopaedic surgeries,

after three yrs in bed I was able to get up and get myself in shape and bought a BMW K1200GT as a come back to riding bike,

After fighting the weight I discovered Ducati on their Demo open house day,

I rode both MTS's and a Monster and bought the 620 MTS because of Ergo's, light weight and grin factor,

The BMW sits for the occassional long touring ride but the DUC gets revved most of the time, its great!

I've just bought a 620 MTS and am over the moon. I found myself in a strange situation after emigrating from England to Canada. Despite having 15 years of riding experience I had to re-do my test and was considered a new rider. Most insurance companies wouldn't insure me on the bigger bikes so I had to look at the 600cc machines. Being 6'6" I looked like a gorilla on a BMX on most machines so the choice was limited. God bless the MTS. For me it has it all - style, finesse, pedigree and unique looks. Bit like the owner really! What do they say about pets and owners looking alike....
